Anubis

Egyptian (jackal god) of the underworld. He used to weigh the hearts of the people to see how heavy they were with sin. If they were heavy, then the person was cast into the (underworld) to be devoured. There is a lot of evidence that points to the sphinx actually being a dog =dog-star=Sirius=Anubis.
